Advance Diploma in Physiotherapy Assistance (ADPA)
INTRODUCTION _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In this ever evolving world of healthcare Physiotherapy as a discipline had come of ages. It has found its application in the fields of Orthopaedics, Sports, Neuro-Sciences, Cardio-Pulmonary, General & Plastic Surgery, Paediatrics, Geriartrics, Women’s Health & General Rehabilitation. In this era of Holistic healthcare approach the role of a Physiotherapist as a member of a multi-disciplinary team cannot be undermined. WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY ? _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Physiotherapy can be defined as a treatment method that focuses on the science of movement and helps people to restore, maintain and maximize their physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues. A Physiotherapist is essentially a Clinician who administers Physiotherapeutic treatment methods following a formal examination & diagnosis of the underlying disease condition. WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY TECHNOLOGY ? _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Given the increased demand of healthcare services it is not always possible foe a Physiotherapist to deliver or administer the desired quality of therapeutic management to the patients. This is exactly where the role of a Physiotherapy Technologist comes into play. The main duty of a Physiotherapy Technologist is to work alongside with the therapist and extend the therapeutic methods or administer physiotherapeutic treatment to the patients under the active supervision of the Physiotherapist in both clinical & residential set-ups. COURSE OBJECTIVE _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This Certificate course on Physiotherapy TECHNOLOGY is designed exactly with the objective to impart the required knowledge, skills & competence in a candidate so that he or she can effectively administer superior quality physiotherapeutic treatments to the patients, monitor their progress and take regular follow-ups thereafter under the active supervision of a Clinical Physiotherapist. Thus upon successful completion of the course & passing out the final exam a candidate will be competent & confident enough to deliver superior patient care & achieve better patient satisfaction. Active guidance & hand holding will still be provided thereafter. COURSE OVERVIEW _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The course comprises of 25 classes, spread over 6 months covering 12 modules with 50 hours of theory & practical classes. The course covers all the basic medical subjects along with physiotherapy lessons in specific disease conditions. Details are given in the Course Outline.
